The Gate remains one of the most memorable yet forgotten Canadian horror gems of the 1980's. Starring a young Stephen Dorff as Glen, who, along with his metalhead best friend (THRASH) Terry, open the gate to another dimension (basically Hell without actually calling it that)in the backyard.
Shortly after, the kids, using a metal lp inlay as a guide, attempt to fight the demons as best as 14 year old kids can. They encounter demons, living dead, face melting, levitation and so much more.
This film has amazing special effects and incredibly smooth stop animation to be compared to THE THING's ending sequence. It's spooky soundtrack with eerie keys only add to the film.
One of my top 20 movies ever. The Gate terrified me as a kid and remains to survive the test of time. WATCH IT!
